Is that error message showing as Turned Off or something like No connections available?
The Official Toshiba Support Website provides support for Satellite A665-S5170.
Usually when you see the red X over Wi-Fi Icon in system tray, then the error message will appears as No connection available. This condition happens when there are no connections available or some problem with your built in Wi-Fi adaptor due to incompatible wireless drivers.
Go to System tray(I.e. Taskbar), right-click on the Network icon then select Troubleshoot problems. Keep observing the on-screen windows while it repairing the network adapter. When it comes to Resetting network adapter phase, you can see the system connects to internet again in System tray.
Also try with the below mentioned troubleshooting steps and see if they help you in fixing the issue.
Update the Network drivers through Device Manager manually and check if they helps.
a) Open run command by pressing Windows key + R and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) and hit Enter.
b) Spot and expand the “Network Adapters”.
c). Right click on the network driver and select “Disable”. When it prompts to choose an option, click OK. Close the Window, come back and try to re-enable it. Now check if the issue still appears.
d). If the issue still persist, then right click on the network driver again and select “Update Driver Software”. When it prompts to choose an option How do you want to search driver, then go with Search automatically for updated driver software. If you have a driver available on your PC, then select Browse my computer for driver software, then select the appropriate location, where the driver located on your PC for updating it. (Ensure that PC is connected to Internet while performing this step)
e). Once this is done, restart the computer to check the problem fixed. If it doesn't fix the issue, then Right click on the same driver and select “Uninstall” then restart the system and let the system install the driver automatically on Start. Check and see if it resolve the issue. (Recommended step)
Ensure that your PC is up to date with Windows Update. Go to Start Button/>Settings/>Update & Security/> Windows Update and check for any available updates
